In late 2025 I was chosen as part of the Gallery Town project in Rotherham, to collaborate with a community partner and create a piece that would be a large scale mural on the side of The Three Cranes building.
Over the two collaborative sessions, the group explored a range of topics around the city they live in, community and creativity, whilst using different mediums and textile techniques to create pieces to be incorporated into the final piece.
The artwork took on the form of a quilt - reflecting on the group they have built week after week, with knitting and crotchet at the heart of their community and at the core of the design.
Often thought of as a women’s medium, the quilt takes on a more literal and historic meaning whilst being stitched together by a community and carrying stories from within the group.
